The Department of Anthropology at Appalachian State University invites applications for two part-time, non-tenure-track lecturer positions in Sociocultural Anthropology to begin August 1, 2020. The successful candidates will teach a 3/2 load in AY 2020-2021. This will include sections drawn from the Gen Ed courses: Understanding Culture; Magic, Witchcraft, and Religion; and/or Gender, Race, Class. There will also be the opportunity to teach specialty courses for majors that align with the teaching and research interests of the successful candidates and teaching in Summer 2021 is also a possibility. Individuals specializing in political anthropology, the anthropology of media, and/or the anthropology of religion are especially encouraged to apply and the geographical interest area is open. Applicants must be enrolled in a graduate program (having completed 18 hours) or hold a Ph.D. in Anthropology by the position start date. The selected candidate must be able and willing to offer courses online if required.
Applicants must provide: (1) letter of application including information about relevant teaching experience and research interests; (2) current CV with names, addresses, and phone numbers of three references; (3) one set of teaching evaluations (that might include evaluations for a course for which the applicant was a teaching assistant); and (4) a statement on their experience and commitment to diversity.
