As announced to campus on Friday, March 27, Governor Roy Cooper has issued a Stay-at-Home Order, in an effort to help mitigate the ongoing spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in North Carolina, effective from 5 p.m. on Monday, March 30 through April 29, 2020.
In accordance with the Order, and to ensure the continued safety of our campus community, Chancellor Everts has directed that, effective at 5:00 p.m. today and through April 29, on-campus staffing will be limited to those whose physical presence is required to maintain the most essential campus operations and to care for the students who remain in campus housing.
During this time, all on-campus staffing will require approval of the Chancellor, through the respective Divisional Vice Chancellors. The Office of Human Resources is working with the Chancellor and Vice Chancellors to compile a complete list of all employees who will be designated as mandatory and approved to work on campus. Designated mandatory employees will be notified by their respective managers by 5:00 p.m. today.
Faculty and staff may not make independent decisions to be on campus during this period. Any member of the faculty or staff who feels they have a need to be on campus to perform a required job function must request approval through their department chair or direct supervisor. Department chairs and supervisors should first make every effort to identify a remote solution for the work to be completed. If a remote solution cannot be identified, a request for the faculty or staff member to work on campus must be submitted to the respective Vice Chancellor for consideration by the Chancellor.
Information regarding paid administrative leave and other staff compensation topics will be provided in a separate communication from the Office of Human Resources this afternoon.
Thank you for your support of these critical initiatives, which are intended entirely to protect the safety and well-being of our students, faculty, staff and the larger community.
