We are delighted to offer our fully furnished, passive solar cabin-style mountain house on 20 acres above the North Fork of the New River, in Ashe County, 30 30-minute drive from the AppState campus, starting August 5, 2025. Custom-designed house includes open-design kitchen and living room (kitchen has brand-new dishwasher, farm-style sink, full-size fridge, plenty of cabinets) that opens to upper deck with view of Snake Mountain. Kitchen includes basic dishes, pots/pans, cutlery, and other small appliances. Upper level has a primary bedroom with attached bathroom and a small single-bed bedroom with spiral staircase up to office loft, as well as a hallway bathroom with clawfoot bathtub. Lower level (one set of interior stairs) has bedroom with custom-made bunk beds, king on bottom and full on top, a third bathroom, den/playroom with sleeper sofa, and mudroom/laundry room with washer and dryer. Exit/entries are on both upper and lower levels for easy access. Towels and bed linens are available. Heat by HVAC or wood stove. Rental cost includes all utilities (gas, electricity, water, internet, and lawncare service). Tenants take care of own trash & recycling by carrying to convenience center, or may contract with a local company for trash service.
The house is backed by several acres of woods up to the summit of the hill, with forests full of ramps in the springtime and lower fields for sports or gardening. The property includes a barn for additional storage and an area for gardening, for tenants interested in undertaking land-based projects.
References available. (Owners retain one room locked for storage, on the lower level.) Seeking 10-11 month lease (August 2025 through May or June 2026) with possibility of renewal for a second year.
