The federal Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) was signed into law on March 18, 2020 and is effective from April 1, 2020 through December 31, 2020. The law provides a time-limited allocation of emergency paid sick leave and expanded family and medical leave coverage for employees who cannot work as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The provisions of this law apply to both permanent and currently employed non-student temporary employees for time missed due to qualifying circumstances beginning May 1, 2020.
Important information about eligibility and instructions for how to apply for this paid leave can be found on the Office of Human Resources website. Employees who are unable to work (or telework) for COVID-19-related reasons are encouraged to review this information.
