Equal Employment Opportunity Training
As a supervisor at Appalachian State University, you play a critical role in creating and maintaining a safe and welcoming work environment for our employees. Part of this role involves upholding Equal Employment Opportunity laws and our University’s values. In order to ensure that you have the tools you need to fulfill this role, we will be implementing Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) training. EEO is a mandatory training for all managers and supervisors with North Carolina state agencies and UNC system institutions per G.S. 126-16.1. This training provides a thorough background in EEO law as well as thought-provoking situations to assess and improve your competence in the workplace.
OSHR has recently updated the training to a blended, virtual or in-person format. You begin by completing six online modules and once you have completed those, you can sign up for any of the classroom sessions offered by OSHR. Supervisors are required to complete the course within one year.
How do I complete EEO training?
Follow the steps below to complete EEO training:
- Create an account for the NC Learning Center (use your full AppState email as your UserID when creating your account).
- Search and register for the "EEODF (v3)" curriculum.
- Complete the six online modules.
- Complete and pass the final assessment with a grade of 70% or higher.
- Enroll in the instructor-led training, an interactive and collaborative experience where you will connect and apply concepts learned in the online modules to real-life situations.
