Flexible Work Arrangements

Appalachian State University recognizes that Flexible Work Arrangements may promote the recruitment and retention of a highly qualified workforce, economies with respect to facility utilization and other institutional operating expenses, and staff engagement and productivity.  Flexible Work Arrangements, whether initiated by management for an identified business purpose or requested by an employee, are based on the specific needs of the unit at that particular time and the ability of the individual employee to work effectively in a Flexible Work Arrangement.

Available Flexible Work Arrangements may include recurring adjustments to an employee's:

  • Scheduled work hours;
  • Scheduled workweek; and/or
  • Customary work location.

All applicable policies, procedures and guidance included on this website should be carefully reviewed prior to the implementation of any Flexible Work Arrangement.
